Full Job Description
The WRTP|BIG STEP Youth Program Coordinator plays a crucial role in coordinating and managing youth-focused programs and training initiatives in the Milwaukee area, including oversight of the YouthBuild Training Program. The coordinator is responsible for effective case management, program coordination, and training implementation in the greater Milwaukee area.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Program Coordination
- Oversee the development and implementation of all youth-related programming, ensuring alignment with curriculum standards and industry certifications.
- Coordinate recruitment activities with staff, members, partners, and volunteers, emphasizing effective case management for program participants.
- Provide comprehensive support for construction program orientations, recruitments, trainings, and community outreach events.
- Collaborate with the WRTP|BIG STEP staff, instructors, and case managers to conduct effective orientation and recruitment sessions, maintaining a focus on quality customer service for all participants.
- Facilitate Youth Advisory and Parent Advisory committees, including outreach events.
- Maintain and update a Construction Pathway Plan for high school students and school districts.
Training Implementation
- Actively participate in the planning, execution, and supervision of training classes and programming.
- Conduct training and orientations as needed, focusing on continual career development and evaluation for construction training graduates.
Case Management
- Provide direct outreach, recruitment, and selection of program participants, emphasizing effective case management throughout the process.
- Communicate with partner agencies and organizations, recruiters, and case managers to provide eligible candidates with a clear understanding of goals, requirements, and opportunities.
Evaluation and Reporting
- Develop and track youth-related metrics using the Efforts to Outcomes (ETO) database and Excel spreadsheets, ensuring accurate data for progress tracking.
- Monitor contractual outcomes, assist in reporting, and communicate with leadership.
- Evaluate program effectiveness and contribute to the annual development of the Youth Work Plan.
Other Responsibilities
- Participate in professional development and training.
- Other duties as appropriate.
Requirements
- Minimum of a BA or BS in social services, education, or related field and two years' experience working with workforce development, with a focus on case management and program coordination.
- Must have 2+ years' experience working with youth in a guidance or leadership manner.
- Demonstrated knowledge of implementing urban youth programs and training.
- Advanced education or certifications are preferred.
- Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn new systems.
- Must have the ability to travel throughout Milwaukee County.
- Regular scheduled hours are Monday – Friday 8 – 5, but must have flexibility to work some late afternoons, early evenings, and/or weekends when needed.
- Project management experience, utilizing planning and organizational skills to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks for successful completion.
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
- Experience collaborating in a multi-disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team.
- Knowledge of federal and state-based programming such as FSET, WIOA, and other DOL and DWD job training programs is desired.
- Flexible and a self-starter; able to multitask while also being highly detail oriented.
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
- This position requires the ability to regularly sit and write at a computer, stand and lift less than 20 pounds to stock office supplies, frequently move from room to room to accommodate guests, use a telephone and use computer equipment to generate input and output and transmit data and requires reliable transportation, including state-mandated insurance.
