Full Job Description
Geo-Synthetics Systems LLC (GSI) manufactures GEOSTRUX™ Geotextile Tubes for use in a wide variety of projects where dewatering of sediments and industrial wastes is required. Our GEOSTRUX™ tubes are produced using high strength woven fabrics and are manufactured to exact standards and by our in-house fabrication group.
The Fabrication Technician II fabricates construction grade fabrics to customer specification. Responsibilities include understanding diagrams, industrial sewing, fabric selection, measuring and cutting to size. Fabricated products include dewatering geotextile tubes, pre-fabricated panels, and other geosynthetic products.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsibilities include, but may not be limited to:
- Selects sewing supplies such as thread, belting, binding, cord, pipe, tape, etc. per production specification.
- Operates specialized mobile sewing machines to join, gather, hem, reinforce, or fabricate products.
- Observes stitching to detect defects due to workmanship or machine malfunction.
- Maintains quality control standards.
- Performs regular maintenance and minor equipment repairs.
- Accurately completing Material Usage Information sheets.
- Participates in weekly safety meetings and follows all safety protocols.
- Other Duties as assigned.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $23.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week

REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to follow instructions and retain routine processes.
- Must be able to consistently demonstrate excellent, on-time attendance.
- Basic mathematic skills.
- Must possess mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, custom work orders, and documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written, oral, or diagram instructions furnished.
- Must maintain Forklift Safety Certification and operate forklift and pole truck.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Two or more years work experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment preferred.
- Experience with minor equipment maintenance a plus.
- Ability to read blueprints.
- Forklift experience a plus.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to push/pull 100 pounds.
- Manual dexterity and the ability to stand, walk, and bend frequently.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- The fabrication department is located in a large warehouse where temperature varies with outside weather. (Approximate range of 50º to 90º Fahrenheit)
