Position Overview:
We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Employment Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will work closely with clients to assess their employment goals, provide job readiness support, and help them secure and maintain employment. Your goal will be to empower individuals through skills training, job placement, and ongoing support to ensure their long-term success in the workplace.
Key Responsibilities: *Hours are expected Wednesday-Friday 12pm-4pm and Saturday 12p-8pm
- Client Assessment: Conduct assessments to identify clients’ skills, barriers to employment, and interests.
- Job Readiness Training: Provide training in job-search techniques, resume writing, interview preparation, and workplace behavior.
- Employment Placement: Assist clients in finding suitable job opportunities and facilitate the application and hiring processes.
- On-the-Job Support: Offer support and coaching on the job to help clients adapt and succeed in their new roles.
- Collaboration: Work closely with local employers, agencies, and community organizations to create job opportunities.
- Progress Monitoring: Track clients’ progress and outcomes, providing feedback and making adjustments to employment plans as necessary.
- Advocacy: Advocate for clients’ needs with employers and within the community to ensure a supportive work environment.
Professional Development:
Stay updated on employment resources, disability rights, and best practices in vocational rehabilitation.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, or related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
- Proven experience working with individuals with disabilities or barriers to employment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to build rapport with clients and employers.
- Knowledge of job market trends and employment resources.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Familiarity with vocational rehabilitation practices and disability rights laws.
- Empathetic and patient approach to client support.
- Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation are preferred.
