This is a remote US position with expected travel up to 75% a year.

A day in the life

As a Market Development Manager at CVRx, you will play a crucial role in increasing awareness and adoption of our innovative medical device therapy. You will engage with healthcare providers, such as physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, to educate them about the benefits of our therapy and its potential impact on patient outcomes. Your ability to build strong relationships, communicate effectively, and deliver compelling presentations will be key to your success.  Market Development Managers evaluate the overall market, develop leads, contact prospects, grow territories, and meet with prospects, determining the continuing needs of our target customer. This position requires effective development and maintenance of the sales pipeline and customer base within a defined segment or subset of strategic accounts.   

Successful performance will be measured by patient referral and implant rates, achievement of sales goals, and other key objective metrics.  Success will be realized through developing and maintaining a comprehensive business plan to target new physician customers, while also managing and cultivating patient opportunities from current physician customers.  The MDM must be seen as a credible, persuasive, ethical, and trusted advisor who always puts the best interests of patients first.  

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Territory Management Collaboration: 

  • In collaboration with assigned Territory Managers, effectively manage and prioritize assigned market and territory in order to maximize coverage and impact. 
  • Develop a pipeline and follow ideal sales funnel process from prospect to new customer to account expansion; target customers, including developing strategic relationships with key patient support groups, referring centers, and advocacy groups.  
  • Maintain data in Salesforce regarding prospects/sales funnel as required to achieve sales and/or opportunity generation volume targets.  
  • Create and execute account strategies to develop and deepen relationships with target accounts.  
  • Drive customer retention and expansion by partnering with internal program leads to grow book of business with existing customers.  
  • Support contract negotiations when applicable, optimizing pricing and terms to ensure alignment with both customer expectations and company profitability.  
  • Contact prospective customers through a combination of telephone and in-person contacts, networking, and referrals to obtain appointments and develop working dialogue with key buying decision-makers.  Explore and validate potential new call-points.  
  • Represent CVRx in front of leading cardiologists, electrophysiologists, cardiovascular mid-levels, and office personnel to educate them and ensure their complete understanding of clinical therapy.  
  • Write tailored, cost-effective proposals, and sales plans focused on identifying new business development opportunities.  
  • Prepare and present solutions in a compelling manner using the available resources.  

Healthcare Professional Engagement:  

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key opinion leaders, including cardiologists, electrophysiologists, and primary care physicians. 

Educational Outreach:  

  • Deliver engaging presentations and educational programs to healthcare professionals, highlighting the clinical benefits and value proposition of our therapy. 

Market Analysis:  

  • Partner with product management on the use of market research for analysis and identification of opportunities for growth optimization through territory planning. 
  • Stay updated on industry trends, competitive offerings, and customer business challenges to remain competitive by developing strong partnerships with Product Managers in marketing.  
  • Participate in trade shows, industry events, and customer engagement activities.  
  • Attend technical and sales training programs to develop competencies and maintain a thorough understanding of the complex physiological and technical principles pertaining to CVRx technologies and therapies.  

Collaboration:  

  • Develop positive working relationships with all internal disciplines, teams, and management, specifically local sales teams and leaders, as well as upstream and downstream marketing colleagues.  

Other

  • Follow all regulatory policies and procedures, privacy and security standards in accordance with government agencies to include HIPAA requirements. 

Requirements

What we expect of you:

  • B.S. or M.S. required; Life Sciences or technical focus preferred. A combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of a degree
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in sales, business development, or account management roles, in the Medical Device industry, preferably in Class III (implantable) medical devices  
  • Experience working within long sales cycles involving multiple stakeholders/decision makers
  • Technical aptitude and/or knowledge of software and electronics-based medical device technology with a knowledge of the market and clear understanding of competitive devices, strategies, advantages/disadvantages as they relate to the company’s devices  
  • Curious nature, with the desire for learning new medical technologies and being part of making a novel therapy the standard of care for individuals suffering from heart failure who meet the indications
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organization skills
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to learn quickly
  • Competitive, self- motivated, self-starter comfortable with encountering obstacles and hearing no or failing with the grit and determination to pivot and persist 
  • Desire and ability to travel 50-75% of the time
  • Reliable transportation
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Valid ID for domestic air travel

What we Prefer to see.

  • Experience with implantable cardiac devices, or cardiac rhythm management
  • Ability to interact with R&D to represent customer perspective to provide input on product enhancements and new product development

Working Conditions.

  • This position will require interfacing with multiple internal departments and physician investigators / customers.  
  • Must be able to lift up to 10 lbs.  
  • Ability to travel 50-75+%.  
  • May be required to be fully vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus and other diseases.

Salary range for U.S locations (USD): 150,000 per year

The base salary range is applicable across the U.S., complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and specific location.

In addition to a base salary, this position is eligible for a variable Sales Incentive Plan (SIP) which provides the opportunity to earn additional incentive compensation for achieving or exceeding your specific objectives.
