1 Resource Group is hiring for a Material Coordinator in the Houston area. This position will be responsible for managing the flow of materials, including raw metals, finished products, and scrap materials, within the facility. This role involves coordinating inventory, tracking shipments, and ensuring materials are available to meet production schedules while adhering to safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Material Coordination:
- Monitor and manage the movement of iron, steel, and other metals across production, storage, and shipping areas.
- Ensure materials are properly allocated to meet production requirements and deadlines.
- Coordinate with suppliers, drivers, and warehouse staff for timely receipt and dispatch of materials.
- Inventory Management:
- Maintain accurate records of inventory levels, including raw materials, finished goods, and scrap.
- Conduct regular inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies with inventory systems.
- Ensure proper labeling and storage of materials according to company standards.
- Scheduling and Logistics:
- Create and update schedules for material deliveries to avoid production delays.
- Coordinate with shipping and receiving teams to manage inbound and outbound logistics.
- Track and document material movement to ensure compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
- Quality and Safety Compliance:
- Inspect incoming materials to ensure they meet quality specifications and report any discrepancies.
- Adhere to safety guidelines for handling heavy materials and operating equipment such as forklifts.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations regarding the handling and storage of scrap metals.
- Communication and Collaboration:
- Act as a liaison between production, procurement, and warehouse teams to address material-related issues.
- Provide updates to management regarding material status, inventory levels, and potential shortages.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or certification in logistics, supply chain, or a related field preferred.
- years of experience in material coordination, inventory management, or logistics, preferably in the metals or manufacturing industry.
- Proficiency in inventory management software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar systems).
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Forklift certification preferred or willingness to obtain certification.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with different types of metals and their handling requirements.
- Knowledge of supply chain principles and best practices.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and move heavy materials (up to 50 pounds).
- Comfortable working in an industrial environment with exposure to heat, noise, and machinery.
- Standing, bending, and walking for extended periods.
Working Conditions:
- Industrial facility with exposure to heavy equipment and raw materials.
- Shift-based work with potential for overtime.
Requirements
1 year of relative work experience.
1 year of heavy forklift experience is required.
