Full Job Description

The Commercialization & Supply Chain Strategy Manager is responsible for driving the seamless integration of product commercialization and supply chain strategies to achieve business goals in the CPG industry. This role involves leading cross-functional teams, optimizing supply chain processes, and ensuring the successful launch of new products. The manager will collaborate with marketing, product development, operations, and external partners to align strategies, maintain timelines, and ensure product availability meets market demands. 

Responsibilities

Commercialization Management: 

  • Work with cross-functional teams to manage the product lifecycle from ideation to end-of-life, leading the end-to-end commercialization process for new product launches, reformulations, and product updates, while ensuring alignment with feasibility, market needs, and business goals. 
  • Collaborate with the PD Project Manager to oversee and maintain project timelines, ensuring on-time launches and adherence to budget by coordinating with the Operations team, suppliers, and co-manufacturers to address all requirements. 
  • Coordinate with supply chain and manufacturing teams to secure raw materials, manage production schedules, and oversee the final product release. 
  • Work closely with Product Development to confirm packaging designs, including artwork, labeling, and material selection, ensuring all elements meet quality and regulatory standards. 
  • Confirm that all partners, including suppliers and co-manufacturers, have the necessary controlled documentation, such as artwork, finished goods specifications, packaging specifications, and case/pallet labels. 
  • Facilitate and attend pilot trials and first production runs to ensure smooth execution and identify potential issues early. 
  • Assist the Marketing team with press checks to ensure quality standards are met and align with brand requirements. 
  • Identify and address barriers to successful product setup at co-manufacturers, providing timely updates on project risks and implementing corrective actions. 
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive packaging specifications to support seamless production and product quality. 
  • Conduct post-launch analysis to evaluate product performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement lessons learned for future projects. 

Supply Chain Strategy: 

  • Design and implement supply chain strategies that align with business goals and improve efficiency across sourcing, manufacturing, and distribution. 
  • Analyze supplier capabilities and cost structures to inform sourcing decisions and drive continuous improvement. 
  • Collaborate with demand planning, operations, logistics, and supply chain teams to ensure inventory levels meet customer and market requirements. 
  • Work with the Supply chain team to develop contingency plans for supply chain disruptions, ensuring minimal impact on product availability. 

Supplier and Partner Management: 

  • Act as the primary point of contact for co-manufacturers during the commercialization phase, overseeing progress toward first production and addressing any issues to ensure project success. 
  • Regularly review supplier strategies and performance to ensure alignment with business objectives and broader company goals. Collaborate with suppliers and co-manufacturers to identify efficiencies and implement cost-saving initiatives, leveraging these opportunities to benefit the company and pass along savings or efficiencies to other OPCOS. 
  • Support strategic sourcing efforts by identifying and onboarding new suppliers for innovative product components, ensuring quality and cost optimization. 
  • Maintain and report on all operational cost-saving initiatives compared to goals, ensuring alignment with company OKRs and broader strategic  

Data-Driven Decision Making: 

  • Analyze supply chain and commercialization performance metrics to identify opportunities for process improvement and cost optimization. 
  • Leverage data to develop actionable insights, driving improvements in production planning, inventory management, and supplier performance. 
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory, quality, and sustainability standards in the supply chain. 

Ongoing Process Improvement and Innovation: 

  • Initiate and lead cost analysis exercises to explore opportunities for savings and process improvements. 
  • Conduct post-launch reviews to identify areas for improvement and implement lessons learned in future projects. 
  • Proactively fill gaps across the product lifecycle, providing support wherever needed to ensure successful product commercialization. 

Cross-Functional Collaboration: 

  • Act as the primary liaison between product development, marketing, operations, and supply chain teams to ensure alignment across all commercialization and supply chain initiatives. 
  • Work with PD project Manager and other cross-functional teams to communicate project updates, address roadblocks, and drive accountability. 
  • Prepare and present regular updates to senior management on project status, sourcing strategies, and key performance metrics. 
  • Work with the marketing team and PD Team to inform them of updated capabilities, technologies, or industry trends introduced by co-manufacturers and suppliers. 

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations, or a related field (MBA preferred). 
  • 7+ years of experience in supply chain management, product commercialization, or related roles in the CPG industry. 
  • Proven track record of successfully managing product launches and optimizing supply chain processes. 
  • Strong project management skills with experience in cross-functional team leadership. 
  • Excellent analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI, or Tableau). 
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels. 
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and supply chain management software (e.g., SAP, Kinaxis). 
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and quality standards in the CPG industry.
