Full Job Description

The Flooid Technical Writer works in an Agile environment as part of a multi-discipline team to create software documentation that reflects the software or system for the end users.  This includes both user-facing documentation, such as technical manuals and tutorials, and internal documentation, including product catalogs and configuration guides.

This Flooid Technical Writer position has great flexibility and the opportunity to work on a global scale.  The primary duties of this role include:

  • Create software documentation after thorough collaborations with subject matter experts and technical staff
  • Write documentation for internal teams such as Project Managers and Solution Architects
  • Convert complex documentation to easy language for multiple audiences
  • Create product catalogs with screenshots and tutorials
  • Exhibit technical accuracy in writing user documentation
  • Update and adhere to in-house style guide
  • Take existing and potential content and improve it

Skills and Experience

A successful Technical Writer at Flooid will be a pro-active self-starter with an eye for detail who collaborates effectively with team members to document functionality and usability.  The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:

  • Advanced written communication skills focused on attention to detail, accuracy, and quality
  • Strong technical awareness and the ability to understand the reasoning and implications of technical decisions
  • Ability to write user-friendly, engaging copy about highly technical subjects
  • Experience with product development and the software development life cycle preferred
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and critical thinking skills, with the confidence to ask questions when blocked
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with business stakeholders
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to set priorities, handle multiple responsibilities, and meet deadlines
  • Experience in a retail or hospitality environment desired
