LPN Corrections

Responsibilities:

• Provide basic medical care and assist in the treatment of inmates in correctional facilities.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
• Monitor and assess inmate health status and report significant changes to healthcare staff.
• Assist with the development and implementation of care plans.
• Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in compliance with legal standards.
• Respond to medical emergencies and manage first aid situations effectively.
• Educate inmates on health conditions, medications, and general health maintenance.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive care is provided.
• Adhere to all safety and security protocols within the correctional environment.
• Participate in training and staff meetings as required.

Requirements

Current LPN license in good standing.

Previous nursing experience in corrections or a related field preferred.

Strong understanding of medical terminology and procedures applicable in a correctional setting.

Ability to communicate effectively and compassionately with a diverse population under stressful conditions.

Proficient in the use of electronic medical records and basic computer applications.

Ability to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.

Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Current CPR and First Aid certification.

Knowledge of legal and ethical standards in nursing practice.
