Job purpose
Maintain detailed costs in the company's system while providing cost and variance analysis that supports operations and sales contributions to the company’s growth
Duties and responsibilities
- Work with operations to set up, analyze and maintain standard costs in the company ERP system
- Analyze, report, and reconcile daily manufacturing and purchase price variances
- Perform operational cost analysis, including logistics and freight costs.
- Work with productions, production management, engineering and R&D teams in developing new product costing estimates for new and existing products
- Maintain inventory and COGS accuracy and perform capitalized variances analysis
- Perform month-end close activities (journal entries, fixed assets, account reconciliation and analysis, etc.)
- Assist in overall fixed assets and inventory management in the company ERP system
- Assist in financial reporting and audit
- Assist in cycle count and physical inventory, and analyze root causes on variances
- Assist in the design and tracking of KPIs (Key Performance Indicators)
- Identify opportunities to develop and implement continuous improvement processes to drive efficiency and effectiveness
- Perform other general accounting duties and ad-hoc projects as assigned
Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required
- At least 3 years of working experience in a manufacturing or costing environment
- General Accounting
- GAAP
- Costing methodology and knowledge
- Ability to perform operational, account, cost, and variance analyses
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills
- Strong Excel, ERP, and other software skills
- Solid problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize to meet deadlines
- Self-driven individual with the motivation to grow
- Ability to collaborate with Inventory Process Improvement team, the production and warehouse employees.
- Experience working in a dynamic and continuous improvement environment (a plus)
Supervisory Responsibilities
This role has supervisory responsibilities for one direct report.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and infrequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to work in an office setting, spend primary working hours at desk using a computer and other office equipment such as printers, copiers, postage machines, etc.
Safety Requirements
Ability to wear required PPE if in any manufacturing area.
