Navarro Research and Engineering is recruiting a Technical Writer Specialist based out of West Valley, NY, with remote work allowable.

The Technical Writer Specialist would be providing very complex, non-routine research and analysis, and technical writing for use by management and project teams in support of their programs.
Requirements
- Education- Bachelor’s degree in English, Technical Writing, Communications, or Journalism plus a minimum of twelve (12) years of related experience or the equivalent combination of education and related experience
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in writing and in person. Requires excellent grammar, writing, and copy editing skills.
- Must be able to interface with individuals or groups from inside and outside of the organization, senior management, DOE and DOE Headquarters.
- Willingness and ability to proactively collect information from multiple sources. Requires ability to coordinate and prepare projects, meet deadlines often involving significant time constraints.
- High degree of self motivation and evidence of success in team environments.
- Strong interpersonal ,l communication, organizational and coordination skills.
- Ability to synthesize technical information and to identify missing content.
- Strong commitment to developing high-quality content, to assessing and accommodating user needs, and to writing for the appropriate audience.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office products including Word and PowerPoint.
- Proficiency in using word processing, desktop publishing, HTML-editing, and content-management applications.
- Demonstrated attention to detail.
- Demonstrates strong project technical understanding.
- Shows a high degree of emotional intelligence for dealing with complex groups and issues.
- Ability to complete projects with minimum of supervision. Ability to meet tight and shifting deadlines on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Requires excellent written, verbal interpersonal communication and customer relation skills.

- Demonstrates ability to sufficiently understand difficult technical issues to support broader communications
Major Responsibilities, Duties, and Tasks
1. Maintain a safe and healthful work environment by following established safe work practices and procedures; investigating and reporting identified safety concerns or situations.
2. Implement standards contained in the Company “Code of Ethics & Business Conduct,” Company EEO practices, and DOE directives.
1. Support the project team on technical writing. Support to the projects, commercial and project integration. Basic understanding of Project Demolition, Earned Value processes and commercial proposal writing.
2. Provide technical writing, editing and presentation development support for internal and external communications. As part of the communication, complete issues and complex technical research to ensure communications are technically correct and appropriate for audience.
3. Research, write, coordinate the review and approval of, and direct the publication and transmittal of various company publications including technical reports, white papers, and presentation material. Creates new or modifies existing technical documents that are complex in nature.
4. Publish technical information documents on site and to the Web.
5. Develop new communication tools and methods with the employees to improve overall project understanding.
6. Develop program for weekly and monthly communications on project status and planned path forward.
7. Provide back up support to public relations and communications personnel.
8. Provide support to Emergency response events and drills as part of the communications group developing and coordinating external and internal communications.
9. Participate in root cause analysis events to ensure technical information is captured.
10. Provide technical editing and direction for project monthly performance reviews.
11. Manage incoming requests from project teams and client to ensure prompt understanding of the items.
12. Participate as part of a team, as an individual contributor, and leader to bring items to closure. Examples include: leading on proposal documents to ensure accuracy and completion. Lead on external presentation preparation.
13. Interface extensively with senior management for the deployment, review and submit all of major internal and external communications.
14. Develop internal and external letters and memoranda. Coordinate draft material and obtain the approval of senior management.
15. Participate in Award fee write ups.
16. Regular attendance is required.
