Role Summary
As the Technical Director, you will oversee all live technical systems and teams at Church of the City New York. This person should have strong communication and organization skills, thorough experience in video, audio, lighting, ProPresenter, service producing as well as volunteer development both technically and spiritually.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
Production
● Responsible for all live production (Audio, Visual, Lighting, Stage Design when applicable) for Sunday Gatherings and other large events (e.g. Worship nights, All Serve Team nights, etc.)
● Responsible for livestream and managing all components of the livestream for services and events
● Responsible for leading, developing, and directing a volunteer team of production volunteers for Sundays and other COTC events (e.g. Worship nights, All Serve Team nights, etc.)
○ Full production team for all Sunday services:
● Morning: 1 Audio engineer, 1 A2, 1 pro-pres, 1 stage manager, 1 lighting, 1 production director.
● Evening: 1 FOH Audio engineer, 1 A2, 1 pro-pres, 1 director, 4 camera operators, 1 livestream audio, 1 lighting, 1 Stage Manager, 2 photographers, 1 production director.
● Oversee production systems and equipment needs and inventory for all venues.
● Responsible for other production jobs/duties as needed.
Media
● Responsible for implementation of all graphics used in Sunday services (e.g. motion backgrounds, sermon slides, lyrics, etc.) in collaboration with Creative/Design Team.
○ Expectation: Slides are reviewed and tested prior to the live service.
Audio
● Responsible for all live audio systems, equipment, and operations.
● Lead a team of trained audio contractors/volunteers.
○ Expectation: Professionally trained audio engineers are scheduled for all Sunday services.
● Responsible for the operation and improvement of the livestream audio mix
● Lead a team to run and record audio for Sunday services and other events as needed
● Oversee Sunday podcast recording and delivery
● Establish and maintain standardized procedures and checklists that ensure consistency and high-quality results.
Requirements
A Christian in submission to the authority of the Scriptures and the Holy Spirit, as evident in lifestyle. Subscribes to and is in full agreement with the Church of the City’s Statement of Faith.
Required Competencies/Skills
● Able to lift at least 50 lbs. and ability to do manual labor
● Proficient in Planning Center and Google Suite
● Skilled in time management and organizational skills
● Experience operating live audio and recording equipment
● Familiar with: IEM (In-Ear-Monitor) systems, Ableton Live, Pro Tools, Adobe Premiere Pro, Black Magic Express Software or another applicable professional editing software
Experience/Education:
● A satisfactory equivalent of education, training and experience in related fields and/or educational disciplines, sufficient to qualify for the requirements of position, including: 6-8 years of ministry and technical experience in the preferred field.
