Full Job Description

We are seeking skilled and motivated Diesel Mechanics/Technicians to join our team in various roles. Responsibilities involve disassembling, inspecting, cleaning, repairing, reassembling, and dyno testing diesel engines. Ideal candidates bring hands-on experience with diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems, as well as a strong commitment to safety, quality, and customer service.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Diagnose and repair engines and engine components.
  • Perform electrical diagnostics and repairs.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools, manuals, schematics, and blueprints to troubleshoot and complete repairs.
  • Disassemble, inspect, clean, reassemble, and dyno test diesel engines to restore optimal functionality.
  • Maintain and lubricate tools and equipment while ensuring a clean and safe work environment.
  • Perform minor machining and rebuild or replace components such as pistons, crankshafts, cylinder heads, and injectors.
  • Conduct failure analyses, testing, and quality control to verify engine performance meets industry standards.
  • Document all completed work, including replaced parts and diagnostic findings, in accordance with standard operating procedures.
  • Follow safety guidelines and OSHA/MSHA protocols, including the use of required personal protective equipment.

Requirements

Experience and Knowledge

  • Bring 5+ years of relevant job experience in one or more of the following:
  • Diesel mechanics or technician roles
  • Heavy equipment or agricultural machinery
  • Automotive mechanics or technician roles
  • Machine shop operations
  • Engine rebuilding
  • Apply hands-on expertise in diesel engines and electrical systems.
  • Operate diagnostic tools and equipment proficiently.
  • Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints accurately.
  • Conduct medium and heavy-duty diagnostics and repairs.

Certifications

  • Hold an ASE Certification or equivalent in one of the following:
  • Medium/Heavy Truck
  • Automobile and Light Truck
  • Engine Machinist
  • Possess leadership or management certifications (preferred but not required).

Technical Competencies

  • Demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude in diesel engines, hydraulics, and structural repairs, including welding.
  • Use computer systems effectively for electronic diagnostics and company operations.
  • Identify and document causes of part failures (e.g., wear or overheating) with guidance.

Customer Service and Safety

  • Deliver exceptional interpersonal and customer service.
  • Commit to maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Follow and enforce safety protocols, including proper PPE usage and safe material handling practices.
  • Maintain clean and organized workspaces by adhering to clean-as-you-go principles and ensuring tools and workstations are well-kept.

Computer Skills

  • Use Microsoft Word and Excel effectively for documentation and task management.

Working Conditions

  • Perform duties in a workshop or manufacturing environment with frequent standing, lifting, and power tool use.
  • Wear appropriate safety gear, including safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, and additional PPE as required in designated areas.
