Starting Salary Range: $55,000-$65,000 + Office Benefit Package.

The Director of Nursing (DON) will monitor, supervise, and evolve nursing practices across RADIAS Health program areas.  Program areas with established nursing services currently include IRTS, Crisis Stabilization, ACT, Outpatient Clinic, Residential Support Services, and TCM.  Routine job functions will include nursing specific employee supervision, training, consultation, policy and procedure development and recommendations regarding program operations. The DON will provide input and guidance on best practices, which will be shared with the Medical Director and Associate Directors of Clinical Services to ensure alignment with overall agency policies and procedures.

  • Provide consultation and feedback on the development of program specific policy and procedures to ensure client care is provided in accordance with program specific mission and values, State and Federal regulations, as well as the MN Board of Nursing Scope of Practice.
  • In consultation with Program Managers, Clinical Directors and Medical Director, recommend standards for personnel expectations for excellence in quality and quantity of work. Work collaboratively with agency nurses and leaders to support consistency in program specific high-quality policies, procedures, processes, forms and documentation.
  • In partnership with program managers, provide supervision of the nursing practices of agency nurses (dotted line reporting matrix).  Provide clinical recommendations, coaching, training, and case specific consultation to agency nurses on the direct delivery of care. 
  • Analyze, plan, communicate and strategize to address any concerns with current practices.  Aid in the evolution of agency policies and procedures, or the performance of specific nursing staff.  Partner with the Program Managers, Clinical Directors, and Medical Director to develop and implement appropriate remediation plans.
  • In partnership with the Operations Director and Facilities and Safety Director, monitor standards and recommend practices to facilitate regulatory compliance with the handling of medications. 
  • Provide guidance on the standards and training needed for unlicensed personnel to be deemed competent to perform delegated nursing tasks.  Provide for, or coordinate, annual training and supervision for delegated nursing tasks and infection control.
  • Stay informed of current and emerging best practices in relation to the delivery of community-based nursing care.
  • Identify training needs for nurses and their interdisciplinary team members.  Directly provide training for agency employees on topics related to medical conditions and best practices for associated interventions.
  • Train on cross cultural health issues, participate in outcome analysis and development of practices to identify and decrease race-based health disparities.
  • ·Provide guidance on the use of technology, data and community trends to identify new service opportunities and advance the agency's care delivery as it relates to individual and population health.
  • Maintain knowledge of community resources, Medicaid benefits and information on accessing community social services, medical and dental systems, and health insurance benefits. 
  • Ensure appropriate reporting is submitted to Vulnerable Adult, Child Protection, the Ombudsman’s Office, or other agencies/entities when necessary.
  • Provide courteous and respectful services to all individuals, community members, external and internal partners.
  • Maintain a pattern of regular work hours.
  • As requested, assist program managers in screening and interviewing nursing applications for open positions. 
  • Travel between sites and within the community to observe and provide coaching on nursing practice and procedures.
  • When necessary to fill gaps in staffing, coordinate and/or directly provide nursing coverage
  • Complete all paperwork, reports, and charting contemporaneously and in an organized manner.
  • Participate actively in on-going professional growth and development; maintain appropriate professional behavior and participate in appropriate supervision.
  • Partner with agency’s senior leadership team to partner on specific projects and the implementation of agency initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Bachelors Degree in Nursing
  • 8-10 years of RN experience in behavioral health related nursing preferred
  • 3-5 years of Leadership experience
  • Experience working with adults living with serious and persistent mental illness, substance use disorders and other chronic conditions is required.
  • Experience in a leadership or supervisory role preferred.
  • Ability to proficiently use Microsoft Office products, along with the ability to learn the agency's Electronic Health Record is required
