Founded in 1891 by a group of visionary volunteers, The Trustees of Reservations (The Trustees) is Massachusetts’ premier conservation and preservation organization. The Trustees’ preserves, for public use and enjoyment, properties of exceptional scenic, historic, and ecological value in Massachusetts. Hourly Rate: $16.50 - $18.50/hour

What You’ll Do:
Your Impact:
Do you want to work at the picturesque Fruitlands Museum in Harvard, MA, welcoming visitors at the Museum Store? As a Seasonal Retail Associate, you will contribute to the Trustees’ mission to connect the community with our special places and the unique history of Fruitlands.
The Role:
As a Seasonal Retail Associate, you will greet and assist visitors at the Fruitlands Museum Store, creating a welcoming environment. You will process sales and sell tickets for museum entry.
Specifically, you’ll:
- Greet visitors and assist them with museum orientation and purchases.
- Oversee ticket sales for individual visitors, groups, and members.
- Safeguard daily receipts and strictly account for funds.
- Provide Trustees membership promotion and sales.
- Answer phone calls and check messages.
- Field visitor questions and share visitor suggestions with the appropriate departments
- Keep informed of special events and group program schedules
- Be flexible and able to think on your feet to provide the best service possible to all guests
- Maintain a neat, clean, and inviting reception area
- Operate the cash register, process sales, and count and balance the drawer
- Partner with other departments throughout the day to ensure smooth operations for guests
- Become familiar with the Fruitlands Museum history, exhibits, and website
- Learn the Trustees core values and mission
- Complete other duties assigned to support the museum store daily operations
This is a part-time, limited term, nonexempt position working 15-25 hours per week reporting directly to the Fruitlands Museum Store and Guest Services Manager.
Requirements
What You’ll Need:
Skills and Experience:
- Experience in retail or another customer facing position preferred
- Highschool diploma or equivalent education preferred
- Ability to operate a cash register
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
Eligibility Criteria:
- Current authorization to work in the United States – a candidate must have such authorization by his or her first day of employment.
- A satisfactory criminal background (CORI) check.
