Jumpstart HR is seeking a Finance and Operations Manager on behalf of our client, St John Baptist Church in Columbia, MD, to oversee financial planning, budgeting, reporting, and operational efficiencies, ensuring strong stewardship and fiscal integrity in alignment with the church’s mission.

Position Summary
The Assistant Pastor provides support to the Senior Pastor and focuses on worship leadership, Christian education, pastoral care, and preaching when required. This role centers around nurturing spiritual growth and fostering discipleship among the congregation.
Requirements
Worship Leadership
- Assist in planning worship services
- Lead worship and assign clergy roles as needed
Christian Education
- Teach Bible studies and lead prayer initiatives
- Develop discipleship programs in collaboration with ministry leaders
Pastoral Care
- Assist with hospital and homebound visitations
- Lead the GriefShare Ministry, providing support to those navigating loss
- Offer pastoral counseling as directed by the Senior Pastor
- Provide leadership for care ministries
Preaching and Teaching
- Provide preaching support and deliver sermons as needed
- Facilitate weekly Bible studies and prayer calls
- Conduct workshops and educational seminars
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in theology, ministry, or a related field (Master’s preferred)
- Experience in teaching, preaching, and pastoral care
- Strong spiritual foundation and commitment to the church’s mission
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Compensation and Benefits
- The expected salary range for this position is $80,000 - $105,000 depending on qualifications and experience
