Full Job Description
East Bank Club, the most gracious and dynamic fitness, sports, and dining facility in Chicago, is seeking a Culinary Intern to join our innovative and passionate team. As the Culinary Intern, you will be responsible for assisting in daily culinary operations while fostering an exceptional guest experience. With our highest standard of hospitality, employee bonding, and excellence, we hope to instill in our interns the skills and values necessary to thrive in the health, wellness and fitness industry.
Rate of Pay: $18.00 per hour. This role is considered entry level
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist with all aspects of food preparation and cooking
- Help maintain overall cleanliness of kitchen and stations
- Participate in menu development and execution under guidance of our Executive Chef
- Learn inventory control, costing and waste management techniques
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure efficient and timely delivery of menu items
- Support daily food service in line with company standards
- Attend cross-training and meetings as required
- Assume the same responsibilities as any EBC employee
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a culinary or hospitality program
- Passion for cooking and eagerness to learn new techniques and recipes
- Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Possess good organizational and multitasking abilities
- Ability to follow precision skills and directions
- Basic knife skills
- Food handlers card
- Weekend availability
- Must be authorized to work in the USA. We use E-Verify.
- A culinary degree or experience is required.
- Good knife skills.
- Must be positive, collaborative, and committed to healthy communication and quality work.
- Must be on your feet for the majority of the shift.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
