Full Job Description
You are an experienced professional in bridge and roadway structures with a minimum of 10 years in the transportation industry. You have in-depth knowledge of relevant codes and standards, including AASHTO, IDOT, ISTHA, and AREMA, as well as expertise in key structural elements like bridge superstructures and substructures, retaining walls, beams, columns/piers, connections, and foundation systems. Experience in bridge inspection, supported by NHI training, will set you apart.
Your academic background includes a bachelor’s degree in structural or civil engineering, along with a Professional Engineer (PE) license in Illinois. Holding a master’s degree in structural engineering or an SE license would be advantageous.
As a natural leader, you thrive in team environments, collaborating effectively with others while also excelling independently. Your strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills ensure you guide teams to success.
You’re proficient in engineering and business applications. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, MicroStation, and AutoCAD is required, while experience with GeoPak/Open Bridge Modeler and Civil 3D is a plus. Familiarity with structural calculation software like Midas, DCalc, ConSpan, STADD, LEAP, MDX, LPile, or similar tools will enhance your profile.

Requirements
You will lead the structural engineering team, managing both projects and personnel. Your responsibilities will include designing bridges, culvert, and retaining wall structures and conducting field investigations using established structural engineering practices for public and private projects. You will also prepare structural plans, specifications, cost estimates, supporting documents, and permit applications.
You will oversee project scopes, budgets, schedules, and progress reports while ensuring quality and compliance with QA/QC standards. In addition, you will mentor team members and review work to maintain high standards.
You’ll take an active role in business development by building positive client relationships, marketing services, and contributing to the preparation of proposals and cost estimates.
Your role will also involve coordinating projects, maintaining documentation such as calculations and project files, and fostering a collaborative work environment. As a mentor, you will support team development while continuing your own professional growth.
