Full Job Description
- Bachelor’s degree in Structural/Civil Engineering and an Illinois Structural Engineer (SE) license required.
- A Master’s degree in Structural Engineering or a Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.
- More than 20 years of experience in structural engineering, with a focus on transportation infrastructure projects.
- At least 5 years of experience in a leadership or managerial capacity within an engineering setting.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Extensive knowledge of structural engineering principles, specifically for bridges, retaining walls, culverts, surveys, and related infrastructure projects.
- Strong project management capabilities, with proven success in leading large, complex projects from start to finish.
- Expertise in managing project budgets, schedules, and maintaining client relationships.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to effectively convey complex engineering concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Proficient in structural design software and the Microsoft Office Suite.
Requirements
- Lead medium-complexity, multidiscipline projects, ensuring the coordination and management of subconsultants.
- Ensure compliance with client and internal requirements and oversee project delivery processes.
- Utilize project management applications to efficiently manage project financials and schedules.
- Apply advanced knowledge of risk management and loss prevention practices during project execution.
- Participate in client meetings to scope projects and present approach options.
- Ensure that all projects meet technical standards, including project specifications and detailed designs.
- Organize and lead training sessions for employees, featuring current trends and technologies in transportation and civil engineering.
- Oversee the quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) processes, ensuring all deliverables meet high standards before finalization.
- Keep abreast of technological advancements and ensure the team is equipped with the tools needed for success.
- Contribute to the industry through technical committees and the publication of research or technical papers.
