The Account Manager is responsible for providing direct territory support to the Sales Account Executive by fostering relationships with brokers, overseeing client accounts to ensure their needs are met, collaborating with internal teams to deliver customized insurance solutions, and supporting strategies to win and retain groups for extended relationships with DDID.

Essential Functions:

  • The Account Manager is a blended role, focused primarily on assigned account retention duties in the mid and large group segments (experience-rated and self-funded groups, typically with 100+ employees), while also contributing direct strategic support to their geographic Sales Account Executive.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with groups and producers, maintain a cadence of communication to ensure client satisfaction, and promote ongoing contract renewal.
  • Promote dental and oral wellness programs to groups and eligible employees with the goal of increasing plan participation.
  • Prepare renewal options on an annual basis, working with underwriting as necessary and offering recommendations to clients based on analysis of clients’ insurance needs.
  • Prepare, explain, and review renewal presentations and annual stewardship meetings as requested, including reports, with existing client groups and associated brokers.
  • Deliver excellent customer service through routine group visits, attending benefit fairs, and responding to queries and concerns regarding group clients.
  • Maintain detailed knowledge of new and existing DDID and competitor products. Ensure credibility with clients by remaining informed regarding industry information, new product information, legislative changes, coverages, and technology.
  • Work with leadership to research, compile, and report recurring data on market landscape and competitive positioning.
  • Participate in business-aligned community organizations and events to network and support our Delta Dental of Idaho brand promise.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to the organization’s core values, code of ethics, and compliance/security standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the health insurance industry in a sales or account management role, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong understanding of the dental benefits marketplace, dental plans, and products.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business publications, communicate effectively through business correspondence, and effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Results-oriented, with a strong focus on achieving sales targets and business objectives.
  • Must possess or obtain an Idaho producer license in Health & Disability through the state insurance exam within 30 days of employment.
  • Competency in Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Ability to travel as required.
