The Common Market is seeking an experienced Food Distribution Operations Manager with specialized expertise in procurement and food safety. In this critical role, you will oversee procurement processes, ensuring that our local food supply is of the highest quality and safety standards while managing relationships with farmers and suppliers.
Your primary focus will be to ensure that our food distribution operations align with regulatory requirements and industry best practices. You'll work collaboratively with our logistics team to streamline processes and build robust systems for sourcing, tracking, and delivering food products to our partners across the Southeast.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead procurement strategies to source local food products, maintaining strong relationships with producers
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and implement best practices in food handling and storage
- Collaborate with operational teams to optimize inventory management and distribution logistics
- Conduct regular audits of food safety practices and implement improvements as necessary
- Develop training materials and programs to educate staff on food safety and procurement policies
- Engage with community partners to understand their needs and improve product offerings
- Monitor and analyze market trends to inform procurement decisions and anticipate needs

Schedule:
- On-site at our East Point warehouse
- Monday to Friday 10AM-7PM
- Regular travel to local farms and community partners
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Food Science, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in food distribution with a focus on procurement and food safety
- In-depth knowledge of food safety regulations and compliance standards
- Strong negotiation and relationship management skills with suppliers
- Proficient in inventory management systems and procurement software
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong analytical skills to assess procurement processes and food safety compliance
- Effective communication skills to engage with a variety of stakeholders
- Willingness to travel to local farms and community partners as needed
