Position Summary:

As the Controller at JBPro, you will be a key leader in our Finance team, responsible for overseeing and optimizing all accounting operations, while ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of financial processes. Reporting directly to the Director of Administration/Finance, you will take ownership of financial reporting, cash flow management, and internal controls, while remaining hands-on with critical bookkeeping and payroll tasks. This position offers a blend of strategic oversight and day-to-day operational responsibilities, ideal for someone who thrives in a smaller, collaborative environment and is passionate about improving financial systems and processes.

What You'll Do:

  • Develop, refine, and implement internal controls, policies, and procedures to ensure accurate financial reporting and regulatory compliance.
  • Manage daily bookkeeping tasks, including tracking and reconciling cash and credit accounts, ensuring timely and accurate financial record keeping.
  • Process payroll and vendor payments, ensuring compliance with company policies and timelines. Post all payroll-related accounting transactions into the accounting system.
  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual closeout processes, including balance sheet reconciliation, general ledger verification, and preparation of financial statements.
  • Monitor budgets and forecast cash flow to ensure the company maintains a strong financial position and aligns with budget goals.
  • Assist in budget preparation and provide insights through financial analysis to support strategic decision-making by leadership.
  • Collaborate with external accountants to ensure timely and accurate tax preparation and compliance.
  • Leverage Excel and accounting software to refine workflows, optimize operations, and support long-term scalability.
  • Act as a financial liaison with internal departments and external partners, managing expectations related to payables, payroll, and other financial processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, OR at least 5 years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Proficiency in Excel at an intermediate to advanced level (experience with complex functions, Pivot Tables, Power Query, and data analysis preferred).
  • Demonstrated experience with monthly closeout processes, including balance sheet and general ledger reconciliation.
  • Knowledge of bookkeeping practices and basic cash flow management.
  • Creative, motivated, and passionate about continuous improvement and accuracy in financial processes.
