Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to join our Facilities and Operations team to manage our office, wet lab, and general operations in South San Francisco. In this multifaceted role, you will be responsible for maintaining a tidy, organized, and fully functional office and laboratory environment and help the company with many general operational tasks. You will regularly interface with the office staff and lab personnel to maintain both spaces and coordinate with remote staff throughout the world and our office in Armenia.
Lab duties:
- Be the hands on person for equipment setup, cleaning, maintenance and operations in the laboratory.
- Provide technical expertise for troubleshooting and repairing equipment failures; perform hands-on technical troubleshooting of electrical and mechanical equipment when required.
- Maintain purchasing inventory, vendor contacts, and waste management for lab operations.
- Manage permits, compliance, and safety.
Office duties:
- Manage general office facilities functions, such as furniture, inventory, janitorial, maintenance, equipment inventory, security, and staff safety.
- Manage the office kitchen, including ordering and delivering food to staff, ordering and organizing kitchen supplies, drinks, food, and snacks.
- Manage conference rooms and AV equipment.
- Organize company events, such as parties, retreats, meetings, and general travel.
- Great guests and make them feel welcome.
- Be the main point of contact for contractors, deliveries, maintenance, etc.
- Assist other members of the team with things that make them productive, such as help with ordering, shipping and receiving, coordinating meetings, etc.
Requirements
To be considered for this position, you must have the following qualifications:
- A strong work ethic and a desire to learn and improve.
- Excellent organizational skills and insane attention to detail.
- Proficiency with general office software products, such as MS Office or Google G Suite, Slack, etc.
- An ability to be a quick problem solver who is good at handling and maintaining lab equipment and work well in a team environment.
- Previous experience in managing lab facilities in academia or a Biotech company.
- A strong sense of ownership. Ability to see things through to completion while overcoming many obstacles.
- Ability to work with people across time zones.
- This job requires onsite presence five days a week.
Work Environment/Physical Demands/Safety Considerations:
- Works in a standard office and lab environment. May be expected to be on feet for up to 2 to 4 hours a day.
- Lifting up to 50lbs may be required.
- May work with hazardous materials and chemicals.
